The University of Toronto Engineering Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Racing Team ranks No. 4 in the world out of 505 student teams that compete in Formula SAE competitions worldwide. U of T’s Formula SAE team was the only Canadian team in the top 10 ranking, and second in North America.

“This major achievement is due to the strong foundation established by our alumni, in addition to the continued commitment of our current members, and especially U of T Engineering,” said Luke Osmokrovic, student manager of the team.

The ranking is conducted by the Formula Student World organization, based on a formula that considers the score from each team’s last six competitions. The list was compiled to provide a direct comparison between all teams around the world and to establish an even playing field. Points were scaled based on how recent results were earned and how competitive various competitions were evaluated to be.

“Extracurricular activities like the U of T Formula SAE Racing Team provide our students with the exceptional opportunity to enhance the skills needed to become outstanding global Engineers,” said Cristina Amon, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering. “On behalf of the Faculty, I extend our heartiest congratulations to the students, faculty, staff, alumni and supporters of the Formula SAE Racing Team for this outstanding achievement.”
