Canada’s Governor General Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette (ECE MASc 9T0) met with U of T Engineering students and alumni as part of her first official visit to Ontario on Feb. 20, 2018.

Hosted by Premier Kathleen Wynne and U of T Engineering Dean Cristina Amon, Payette heard demonstrations by the Blue Sky Solar Racing Team, University of Toronto Aerospace Team and Kepler Communications, a company launched out of the Faculty’s two startup accelerators The Entrepreneurship Hatchery and Start@UTIAS.

The private U of T Engineering showcase was held in the MaRS Phase II atrium prior to an official reception hosted by Premier Wynne in the Governor General’s honour. The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, the Honourable Dave Levac, was also enthused about meeting the students.
