With global warming becoming an issue of growing international concern, India is planning to launch its own satellites for monitoring greenhouse gases and fine particles in the atmosphere. The first of these, a nano-satellite weighing about 20 kg, could be ready for launch by the end of next year.

News on the collaboration of the nano-satellite was picked up by The Hindu Timesand the BBC (link unavailable) on Sept. 14, 2009.
