Congratulations to Professor Jeffrey Packer, of the Department of Civil Engineering, who has received the 2010 H.A. Krentz Award from the Steel Structures Education Foundation (SSEF). This award is given to the researcher with the top-ranked proposal in the annual SSEF research grant competition. Professor Packer’s research will investigate welded hollow structural section connections and assess current Canadian and American guidance on weld design. Jeffrey Packer holds a Bahen/Tanenbaum Endowed Chair. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (U.K.) and the American Society of Civil Engineers, and received a 2010 Ontario Professional Engineers Award in the Research and Development category.
