Dr. Gerald Hatch, founder of Hatch Ltd., a key industrial partner to the Faculty, has been inducted into the Canadian Science and Engineering Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is a central part of the Canada Science and Technology Museum in Ottawa. It honours individuals whose outstanding scientific or technological achievements have had long-term implications for Canadians.

Justly described in his citation for the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame as “a national asset,” he is internationally known for his outstanding contributions to the advancement of process metallurgy and his leadership in building one of the world’s foremost engineering consultancies.

Hatch Ltd. has successfully guided engineering projects around the world in both the public and private sector. In his leadership of these projects, he has contributed to the economic well-being of Canada and several other nations. His many honours include Honorary Doctorates from McMaster and McGill University and the Ontario Professional Engineers Gold Medal. He is a Member of the Order of Canada.

Dr. Hatch was inducted into the Hall of Fame on November 17, as part of the Canadian Science Policy Conference in Ottawa.
